EBY Underwear Review: The VPL-Free Underwear Subscription

Gloria—the hot Colombian matriarch of the family—is one of the co-founders of EBY. Sofia Vergara’s partner in the EBY brand is Renata Black.

Given that this is a subscription service for women’s underwear, it bodes well that the brand is created by women, for women.

Right from the outset, the pair have stayed true to the sisterhood—and to the planet.

Underwear ranges from size extra-small to 4XL, and come in a range of colors. Their nude shades actually accommodate real nude shades, too.

Flat seams and no tags mean less irritation and more comfort

But it’s not just about our own personal comfort as we go about our women’s business. EBY also cares for the planet by giving you the option to opt out of literature (thus eliminating paper waste).

Finally, they’ve paired up with the Seven Bar Foundation, donating a whopping 10% of gross sales (not 10% of profit, which is actually way different).

The Seven Bar Foundation gives micro loans to women to help them create their own business dream, to support their families, and to avoid the financial traps many disadvantaged women can fall into.

Seriously, I’d sign up for that reason alone.

How EBY Subscriptions Work

Subscribing to EBY is as easy as subscribing to anything else you’ve got going on.

• Step 1: Pick your underwear size. Pro tip: the site recommends sizing down, but I didn’t. I’m glad I didn’t, because these were pretty true to size.
• Step 2: Pick your style group. You’ve got several options—Mixed Styles, Full Coverage, All Thongs, or All Briefs. I chose Mixed Styles, which included a selection of thongs, briefs, cheekies, and bikinis.
• Step 3: Pick your color group. You can choose Mixed Colors and Prints, or Neutrals. I chose Mixed Colors and Prints.
• Step 4: Pick your subscription style--$45.00 every 3 months for 3 pairs, or $65.00 every 6 months for 5 pairs. I opted for the quarterly subscription.

EBY Underwear Styles

EBY Briefs

It’s easy to see why EBY underwear have the zero-VPL market covered—these underwear feel like a second skin. They are ultra-lightweight and soft. The Polyamide / Elastane fabric blend gives them a silky soft feel, but the workmanship is top quality.

Mine came in a bold, fun print, and the rounded cut at the back + mid-rise waist is incredibly flattering to my (I want to say generous) figure.

Pros

• Inclusive range of sizes
• Tag-less. This means no itching about my butt-crack, no awkward tags sticking out when I’m trying to be cute, and no weird bump when I’m wearing activewear. Win-win-win.
• 85% Polyamide / 15% Elastane fabric for an airy, light feel
• Full cotton gusset for breathability and keeping the girl-bits healthy
• Flat seams for less irritation and bunching
• Pretty prints and color options
• No visible panty line and no chafing
• Surprisingly durable—for such thin fabric and a light raw seam, there’s been no wearing through, no fading, no unravelling, and no pilling so far

Cons

• Although I loved the print my EBY briefs came in, I kind of wish I had the freedom to choose exactly which print or color I received.

Best for…

Everyday wear, working out, running errands, and chilling around the house. Ultra-comfortable and ultra-cute.

EBY Cheekies

EBY Cheekies were next out of my EBY underwear subscription box.

Again, I was thrilled with the Polyamide / Elastane stretchiness and super-soft finishing. Instead of a tag, these underwear all come with a stamped label that doesn’t impact wearability or durability at all—although I can imagine the stamp will wear off in time.

They came in a cute dusky rose color, with a slightly higher cut at the back to show off a little cheek—if that’s your thing.

It’s not really my thing, and with my ample derriere I was a little concerned this style was going to end up a little less cheeky and a little more wedgie.

Pros

• 100% cotton gusset is colored to match the fabric, for a subtle, breathable, good-looking pair of underwear.
• No visible panty line and no chafing
• No ride up! I didn’t think that would be possible, but the EBY Cheekies stayed true to their word, and didn’t try to become a thong. It’s something to do with their velvet-y flocking technology.

Cons

• Not my favorite style for my body shape.
• Unfortunately, unless I choose All Thongs (that’s definitely a no) or All Briefs (and miss out on the Bikini cut) as my subscription style, I’m likely to get them again.

Best for…

Women who like a cut that sits high on the butt cheek.

EBY Thong

I’m not a thong girl (as many of you may already know). But this one is comfortable and a kind of minimalist sexy, as well as totally invisible under clothing. With the same fabric that EBY use across their Briefs and Cheekies lines, you can expect silky softness, durability, and resilience from the EBY Thong.

Pros

• Ultra-soft, barely-there feel
• Lightweight
• Beautiful range of easy neutrals and pretty floral prints

Cons

• None. If I was ever going to wear a thong, it would be this.

Best for…

If you’re a thong lover, I’m quietly confident you’ll love this one.

Is EBY The Underwear Subscription for You?

As far as underwear subscriptions go, you’re paying slightly more for EBY than for others on the market, and unless I’m missing something, there isn’t a way to choose the specific color or print you want for each pair.

That being said, if you like a little flair—and surprise—in your subscription box, and you’ve got a little flexibility in your budget to accommodate the extra cost, EBY offer a beautiful range of VPL-free underwear that are cute, durable, and supremely comfortable.
