Uniqlo Underwear Review: The Ultimate Budget Underwear?

At this point, I've tried a butt load (yes, pun intended) of underwear. And to be honest with you, a lot of it broke my bank account. My fault entirely but still.

So, I wanted to try a brand of undies that didn't burn through the cash in my wallet.

It was around two in the morning when I decided to start my research into affordable boxer briefs. Arguably, this isn't the best time to search for quality products since most people's judgments are rather skewed this late/early.

But regardless, I did it.

Uniqlo Underwear Review

The fruits of my labors were the Uniqlo Supima cotton boxer briefs. I have to say, for something that I found very early on a weekday morning, I love them with all of my heart. More specifically, with all of my nether regions.

The best part is, my wallet was left feeling heavy (something that doesn't usually happen when I shop in the wee hours). With that, let me tell you my thoughts on these boxer briefs.

How Does Uniqlo Underwear Fit?

Uniqlo Underwear Review

For the measly price point, I figured that I'd be rather uncomfortable while wearing them. Honestly, these boxer briefs proved me wrong.

The pairs I purchased were the regular rise versions but they do have low rise options if you prefer that. Just bear in mind that I'm reviewing the standard ones.

They do provide a good amount of coverage. I thought the legs would be too short for me but again, I was mistaken. They stretch far enough down the thigh to prevent that annoying ride-up event that occurs when you sit down, run, walk, or just live basically.

Recently, I've been trying to exercise more — it has been the year of me glued to my screen and having no interest in working out. It isn't something that innately interests me, so I have to really force myself to do it.

The main problem I have with going for jogs and all that jazz is the boxer briefs I wear. They're just uncomfortable and cause extreme ball to thigh stick.

The Uniqlo pair I bought seemed to solve the problem for the most part. They have a three-dimensional front panel to hold your crown jewels in place and it does work.

However, I do think it could be even more 3D... if that makes sense! This way, it would hold everything in a tad better since I found one testicle would escape into the leg area when I was pushing it particularly hard on the treadmill. Considering the price point though, it's exceptional.

The overall construction of the boxer briefs allows for supreme comfort. However, I feel that the legs have been sewn a bit too tightly. While I didn't feel overly restricted, I certainly couldn't do sumo squats without worrying about potential rips.

The Seams

Uniqlo Underwear Review

As for the seams, I loved that I couldn't really feel them. If you've looked at a picture of the boxer briefs though, you probably think I'm lying. For those who don't understand what I'm talking about, read on.

There is a seam running vertically on the 3D pouch. Yup, straight up the middle. It sounds like this would be awfully itchy and just uncomfortable. However, I couldn't feel it at all.

With that being said, I don't think this seam particularly added anything to either the design or fly. Uniqlo states that it allows the pouch to protrude less. But as I said earlier, I think it could do with being a bit bigger so maybe ripping this out is the answer?

Uniqlo Underwear Fabric and Breathability

Uniqlo Underwear Review

Uniqlo's boxer briefs are made from Supima cotton. According to the site, this is a luxury cotton grown solely in the USA. Thanks to the unique blend of super long fibers, the fabric offers extreme softness, strength, and ability to hold color.

My opinion? I love it! They are undoubtedly the softest pair of boxer briefs I've ever graced my lower half with. Seriously. 10/10 would recommend! Especially for the price.

As far as breathability goes, they're okay. They aren't the best, but they do the job well enough. I suggest you change out of them.

How Durable is Uniqlo Underwear?

I've watched them a few times so far. Surprisingly, they're holding up well. The seams are still standing true and the front pouch has kept its shape despite my relentless clean, wash, clean, wash cycle I've put them through.

Oh, and the color is staying put as well. Couldn't ask for more than that!

What I Loved... & What I Didn't Love...

What I Loved...

  • The cotton fabric. It's incredibly soft and stretchy. I didn't feel restricted when I was going about my day-to-day activities.
  • Although I love having a lot of patterns to choose from, the somewhat limited options that Uniqlo gave me made the buying process a lot easier (in my opinion).
  • The price! This probably goes without saying. I'm unbelievably happy that my wallet didn't cry out in emptiness after purchasing these.
  • The 3D panel at the front holds the boys nicely and stops them from slapping against your leg every time you take a step. However, as I said, I think they could do with making this part a tad bigger.
  • The seams are relatively non-intrusive to provide an itch-free wearing experience.

What I Didn't Love...

  • The seam running vertically through the middle of the front 3D pouch. It just feels unnecessary.
  • The legs aren't as wide as I'd like. I mentioned this earlier but I just wanted to emphasize that while you will be able to do your day-to-day activities, the minute you need to do some lunges or wide-legged squats, you'll have to change.

Is Uniqlo For You?

If you're on a budget, you can't go wrong with Uniqlo Suprima cotton boxer briefs. As you can tell from my thoughts and feelings here, I think they're absolutely worth it. After all, you can't go wrong with something that's less than $10, right?
