Do You Wear Underwear Under Bodysuits?

You could argue that the whole point of wearing a bodysuit in the first place is that it negates the need to wear anything under it?

Undergarment experts will tell you that it’s totally bonkers to wear underwear, and actually defeats the whole purpose of a bodysuit.

So, this was evidently up for question, and we’ve conducted some research to see what other people think about this issue. Keep reading to see what we’ve come up with.

Undies Under Your Bodysuit? What Are People Saying About That?

Connoisseurs of the bodysuit will tell you that provided the inner gusset, liner or crotch panel is made from cotton, you should be OK to go commando with your bodysuit.

However, some bodysuits are made from some odd or synthetic fabrics, so you’ll most probably want to be protecting your lower area by wearing some underwear.

It’s also true that although a bodysuit is a one-piece with an attached bottom, it doesn’t necessarily offer you the increased support or comfort you would obtain from wearing some underwear beneath it.

Some of those sheer bodysuits are also made of very thin fabric, often with a terribly narrow crotch part too. So, this is one instance where underwear would be quite prudent.

One of the main reasons for wearing a bodysuit is so that you have a tucked in top part. You don’t need to worry about it becoming untucked or the material bunching.

It also gives you a nice seamless look; something that could be hampered if you start wearing underwear beneath it.

So, unless it’s really necessary, it is probably considered best not to wear garments beneath your bodysuits.

Are There Any Benefits or Disadvantages to Wearing Something Under Your Bodysuit?

Sometimes, you will, of course, want to wear underwear under your bodysuit.

There are times in the month, and certain occasions or physical exercise that will warrant having a pair of undies under your bodysuit. And don’t forget that the damp, humid ecosystem created in our crotch area makes it the perfect place for yeast and other bacteria to flourish.

You could argue that this is definitely a good argument in favor of wearing a sensible pair of knickers under your bodysuit, as the underwear will catch any sweat or moisture.

It goes without saying that your undies should be made from a type of material that is suitable.

Those of you who are not keen to go commando will certainly need to ensure that your underwear fabric is breathable and comfortable.

That said, if your bodysuit has been made from a high-quality material that also provides you with a cotton gusset, you may not have to wear anything in your nether regions; although you might still want to wear a bra if you have a larger bust.

If you’re wanting that seamless, sleek bodysuit look, then it makes sense for you to pay a bit more for your bodysuit and make sure it’s made of a good-quality fabric.

Some women swear by wearing thongs with their bodysuits. This still gives them the slender, virtually no-seam look, but provides a modicum of protection in the gusset.

However, it might pay to heed the professionals when they say that it’s not the best idea in the world to wear thongs with anything that is tight fitting.

The thong can act like a wick and even enhance the negative effects of moisture development, by encouraging it into the vagina – say hello to infection!

What Should a Girl Do? To Wear or Not to Wear Undies Beneath Her Bodysuit

From what we’ve seen, most women want to wear a bodysuit with nothing underneath.

And a lot of really nice bodysuits have high-cut legs and styling, so wearing anything at all underneath them would be pointless and would ruin the look.

Unfortunately, going commando can often mean discomfort. Most of the bodysuits out there are provided with buttons on the crotch.

Not only can these be uncomfortable, if a button opens, they can also end up giving people a free show!

Tips and Information About Wearing Clothing Under Your Bodysuit

Some bodysuits come with a standard cotton gusset. In this case, you might be able to forego wearing any underwear.

However, some have little or no gusset protection or comfort, so you’ll definitely need to consider wearing garments that offer both.

The undergarment of choice would be made from cotton or a breathable, comfortable fabric.

You need to be happy that the knickers will not ruin the overall sleek bodysuit look, but at the same time offer you the appropriate degree of comfort. If you are wearing a bra, you’ll need to ensure the same.

The fabric used should be comfortable but also provide you with enough support for your bosom. However, the tighter the bra, the more lines you’re liking to see.

If you need extra comfort or abdominal support beneath your bodysuit, then ensure that the fabric of the underwear satisfies the requirements outlined above.

The material and fit of the undies should also discourage chafing. The bodysuit obviously fits closely to your skin, so selecting an underwear fabric that can cope with that is a must. Otherwise, you’ll feel itchy and uncomfortable.

To try and encourage that sleek bodysuit look, perhaps buy some seamless, smooth underwear. In any case, avoid garments that have raised seams – always favoring seamless or flat-seamed underwear.

The flip side here is that if you’re aiming to go commando under your bodysuit, then make sure you buy a bodysuit that is made from high-quality fabric, and that offers a comfortable, sufficiently wide, preferably cotton liner or gusset.

Should You Wear Underwear With a Bodysuit?

As already mentioned, the whole point of wearing a bodysuit is that there is nothing to tuck in, and your clothes fit over it easily without showing any extra seams.

Add underwear to that, and you’re now wearing an excessive amount of material that probably isn’t necessary.

It’s also not really that healthy to have so many layers around your groin area, as it encourages yeast and bacteria to thrive, rewarding you with a rather horrid urine infection.

So, all underwear should be seamless, made from high-quality and preferably breathable fabric, and not make you feel bundled up. Provided you have a cotton gusset for your lady bits, you should find going commando in your bodysuit a doddle.
