2UNDR Review: Do Day Shift Boxer Briefs Live Up To Their Name?

I’m a sucker for good branding. Labelling these 2UNDR men’s boxer briefs Day Shift was like waving a red flag in front of a bull—I couldn’t let it go.

Full disclosure: my day shift is technically a day and part-night shift, because trucker life. As with most of the undergear I buy, I get that it’s not designed for someone who puts it through the wringer like I do. I need to manage my expectations (I’m working on it).

On the plus side, that’s a win for you, my friend:

If you work in an office, you’ve got a safe margin of day-shift coverage.

If you’re living that active life all day, I can give you a fair idea of what you’re up against in a pair of 2UNDR.

And if you’re doing the long yards on the open road, you’ll know if 2UNDR Day Shift boxer briefs are going to keep you free of swamp butt, sticky sack, or a painful jam situation to rival any rush-hour unloading.

Here’s the 2UNDR review every working guy needs to read.

The Brand

2UNDR Review

2UNDR is a British Columbia brand that embraces durable construction and quality materials. They’re also a big fan of the proprietary Joey Pouch across their styles, so you can count on these guys to deliver versatility and comfort and reassuring cuppage for your delicate bits.

The Style

2UNDR Review

As a fan of breathable, stretchable comfort—and also as a guy whose wife buys him a lot of undies—I know what I like. The 2UNDR Day Shift boxer brief looked like the line that would suit my needs best, but this is a brand that caters to the masses across 5 styles:

  • Swing Shift
  • Day Shift
  • Power Shift
  • Night Shift
  • NCAA

2UNDR shows true versatility offering a 3” trunk, a 6” boxer brief, a 9” long line boxer, with the classic Canadian long john making the list on a technicality.

The Specs

2UNDR Review

2UNDR Day Shifts promise all the comfort and breathability of a cotton boxer brief, with the sleek feel of bamboo and a go-to elastane material for stretch.

  • Sizes small to 2XL.
  • 65% bamboo / 30% cotton / 5% elastane fabric blend.
  • Low-profile flatlock stitching eliminated chafing in key areas and offers a seam-free no-VPL look under work gear.
  • Proprietary Joey Pouch to support your man stuff—lifts and separates the frank and beans for a strong fit and improved air flow.
  • Machine washable.
  • No Drip Tip. A strategically-placed hydrophobic membrane keeps you cool and comfy and dissipates unwanted wetness.
  • Reinforced, roll-resistant waistband.

The Experience

Comfort

2UNDR Review

The bamboo / cotton / elastane blend is definitely soft and silky, but probably a little stiffer than I’d expect. I’ve tried out one of 2UNDR’s other lines before, which featured a beechwood fiber blend fabric, and that was probably superior to the Day Shift for softness.

Having said that, these boxer briefs delivered excellent breathability with zero ride up throughout a full day and night of wear—and an additional workout for funsies. The waistband stayed in place easily, with no pinching or rubbing all day. Bonus points for keeping these underwear tag-less and mid-rise for added comfort on my 24hr+ shifts.

Looks

2UNDR Review

With 5 solid colors and 3 striped options, 2UNDR don’t spoil you for choice. Neutral gray, black, classic navy, forest green, and a bold red round out the colorways.

From a purely aesthetic point of view—and I do like me some aesthetics—I don’t get the waistband.

It’s tag-less, which is a win. The branding is embossed instead of embroidered—another win. But what’s with the kangaroo? Much like I associate a kiwi bird with New Zealand and a maple leaf with Canada, a kangaroo screams Australia. Given that 2UNDR hails from Vancouver, you can color me baffled.

Moisture Management

2UNDR Review

These did a good job at wicking away sweat and sogginess early in the day. As I neared the end of my shift, I guess these were nearing the end of their tether with my sweaty nether-regions, though.

By mid-evening I was definitely feeling a little damp and diaper-y. Odor control was solid, though, meaning that the only person who knew about my damp and diaper-y plight was myself.

Durability & Care

Here’s the really good bit: you can wash these by hand and dry them pretty quick on a towel rail. To really speed up the process, roll the (clean) pair up in a towel to absorb extra water before you hang them up to dry.

Durability-wise, 2UNDR’s Day Shift boxer briefs aren’t pilling, pulling, or wearing through after a solid 12 weeks of use. That bodes well for them, given that I’ve been putting them through the proverbial wringer during that time. The flatlock seams aren’t showing any signs of fraying, yet, either.

Service

2UNDR Review

2UNDR are one of the underwear companies jumping on the First Pair Guarantee bandwagon. Along with giants like Mack Weldon and MyPakage, if you don’t like your first pair of 2UNDR undies, they’ll give you a refund. You’ve got 30 days to test-drive your new boxer briefs before you let 2UNDR know you’ve got a problem.

To me, that’s a major way to eliminate your risks and get the underwear you’ll actually want to wear.

The Joey Pouch

2UNDR Review

The Joey Pouch is an interesting addition. For my body type, it works—it’s comfortable, supportive, and provides enough lift around my Joey to keep air circulating more than normal.

But I can imagine this is very much a personal preference situation.

The fabric is pretty clingy, and if it clings wrong in the tight space that is the inner thigh area it’s going to be detrimental to your ball-sack. Chatting with a couple of buddies who have been wearing 2UNDR for years, I hear the design is a little less pinching as time rolls on—but it’s something to keep in mind.

Given the First Pair Guarantee, you can try before you commit from the comfort of your own home.

The Verdict

2UNDR men’s Day Shift boxer briefs don’t withstand an entire shift in dry comfort for me—but damn, they get close. Ultra-comfortable, no ride-up, zero chafe, easy care, and awesome resilience: I don’t think it gets better than that from a mid-range boxer brief.

Add to that the First Pair Guarantee (and you don’t even need to send your old, used undies back) and you’ve got a pretty first-class deal for your dollar.
