Should Men Wear Thongs?

Finding the perfect pair of underwear as a man is always more challenging than expected.

Sure, a lot of guys grab a multipack of whatever briefs or tighty whities they find on sale down to the local department store (maybe while grabbing the new oil filter, some garbage bags, and some laundry detergent) and call it a day.

These kinds of decisions almost always result in anything but perfectly comfortable underwear that offer plenty of support throughout the day, though.

At the same time, the odds are pretty good that your average guy isn’t grabbing a bundle of thongs at that local department store and tossing them out cavalierly when they go to check out.

There’s a bit of a stigma about wearing thongs as a man these days (something we are going to hit head-on in just a second), but overcoming that stigma is a huge piece of the puzzle to unlocking the kind of comfort you won’t be able to find in any other type of underwear on the planet today.

The Elephant in the Room

It’s pretty unlikely that you have ever asked your guy friends for their recommendation on buying thong underwear, and it’s even less likely that you’re asking the ladies in your lives those kinds of questions, either.

Thongs are universally regarded as the underwear (or bathing suit) that make women look fantastic, not the kind of thing that a rugged guy would slide into – at least not unless he was about to “get down to business” with his partner and they gave the green light.

These just aren’t the kind of underwear pieces you see guys wearing on a regular basis.

But that’s starting to change.

You see, a lot of men are waking up to all the benefits this kind of underwear brings to the table while realizing that a lot of their friends, coworkers, and strangers they interact with on a day-to-day basis never know what kind of underwear they are wearing to begin with – and really don’t have all that much occasion to figure it out, either.

Think about it.

When is the last time you had someone call you on the underwear that you were wearing?

Junior high gym class?

Probably.

There’s no reason whatsoever to sacrifice all of the performance and comfort benefits you get from a thong these days because your nervous somebody might develop x-ray vision, peek through your pants, and discover that you are wearing a thong!

Pros of Men Wearing Thongs

Even though a lot of us associate thongs with beautiful backsides and gorgeous legs, the truth of the matter is that they are incredibly practical pieces minimalist underwear.

When you’re wearing a thong, you’re going to see why people love them almost right away. The actual “pouch” part of the underwear is going to provide the fit and security you’re looking for—even better than boxer briefs—but the rest of the underwear is going to disappear almost immediately.

This all means you’re going to see a big bump in all day comfort almost right out of the gate, too.

No longer will you have to worry about breathability issues with your underwear. All that extra fabric that traditional boxers or even briefs would have been bringing to the mix disappears completely.

Now you’re running almost commando—and that extra airflow is going to help you beat the heat and cut down on sweat and moisture in a hurry.

Oddly enough, when you find a thong that fits well, you’ll be able to eliminate wedgies once and for all, too.

There’s something about the way that the single strip running up the cheeks becomes really liberating and anything but annoying. It’s why you never hear women wearing thongs complain about wedgies, too.

The Downside of Men Wearing Thongs

Now, this isn’t to suggest that you’ll have an effortless time finding the perfect thongs to wear from here on out as a man.

For starters, because these underwear choices are becoming so popular there are more options out there now than ever before.

This seems like great news at first, until you discover that you’ll be overloading with choices – all of them promising the moon and the stars when it comes to fit and finish.

And just so you know, fit is EVERYTHING when it comes to thongs.

You’ll want to find something that has enough “pouch space” for your total package without being restrictive or too loose, and that alone can be a tall task.

You’ll also need to find a backstrap that is thin enough to feel like it disappears throughout the day but thick enough to stay in place – especially if you’re active.

Lastly, you’ll need to zero in on something that sits on your hips comfortably without riding up and causing issues there, too. The last thing you want to worry about is a whale tail popping up when you’re bending down!

Men Can Wear Thongs

All in all, making a change in your underwear routine can always feel a little daunting – and that’s even just switching brands or fabrics.

Making a wholesale change like this – going from your traditional boxers or briefs to a thong, especially if you’ve never worn one in the past – can feel like it’s a bigger deal than it is.

The important thing to remember here is that at the end of the day, we’re just talking about underwear.

These almost invisible pieces of clothing that people aren’t ever going to see (unless you’re peeling off your clothes in the first place, and at that point you’re probably pretty comfortable with one another) should be chosen based on one thing above all else – how good they feel when you’re wearing them.

If that means you’re rocking a pair of the tightest, whitest, briefs the world has ever seen, so be it.

If that means you’re a boxer brief man from cradle to the grave, (with a couple stops to wear diapers at both ends), then that’s cool, too.

But if you’ve been unhappy with your underwear choices for a little while now – and have been having a tough time finding something light, supportive, strong, and nearly wedgie proof – then you need look no further than everything that a thong brings to the table.

We’re not going to tell you that men wearing thongs is already 100% mainstream and that everyone is wearing them right now. But we can tell you that thongs for men are way more popular than they’ve ever been before (and we don’t just mean on French beaches, either).

The word is getting out about how comfortable, how supportive, and how fun these can be to wear.

If you’ve been looking for an upgrade that feels great, that offers lots of support, and that’s going to give you a lot of confidence, then it just might be time to get a thong a try.

Just don’t be surprised if you find yourself stocking up after the first week – they really are that much of a game changer!
