Lounge Underwear Review (And Also A Confession To The Sisterhood)

In the insanity of 2020, I made a discovery: I like being at home.

I like marching to the beat of my own drum. I like working where I want, when I want, and breaking for the lunch I want (which, in all fairness, is not the lunch I should be eating). Commuting to my old office 5 days a week sounds a lot like frivolous behavior to me.

The other bonus is walking around in my underwear.

Actually, there’s a caveat there: walking around in my new underwear. Because my old underwear can only optimistically be called nude. In reality it’s a weird tea color from being machine washed with dark clothing all the time. But my new underwear is a dream, and I’m struggling to branch out and try something else.

  • My Zoom Meeting Outfit is a professional blouse and perfect hair and a cobalt blue Lounge Balcony bra and thong set and 3-weeks-since-the-last-shave legs (Pro Tip: don’t stand up mid-meeting).
  • My Sitting on the Couch Outfit is that same set, minus the bra, and a tee that’s seen better days—and a lot of them.
  • My Napping at 3 PM Outfit is the Lounge Balcony bra and a pair of PJ bottoms.

If I get the nerve up to let a date into my quarantine space at some point, dude is in for a treat. I haven’t been fully dressed in my home in actual months.

I think Lounge underwear may be the brand for me. In this Lounge underwear review, I’ll tell you why.

The Lounge Underwear Brand

Lounge Underwear Review

The Lounge name implies what is actually one of my favorite things about this brand: it’s lounge-y. I can wear it as I lounge around. I look great in my lounge. It’s also got that Roaring 20s luxury vibe for me. The brand’s tagline is Comfort Made Sexy—and Lounge are nailing that.

The husband-and-wife team launched in 2015 with the original Lounge Triangle bra design. In 2020 the brand is really taking off with their multiple styles, gorgeous jewel-toned color palette, elegant neutrals, and delicious blend of lace and silk.

Lounge Underwear Collections

Lounge Underwear Review

My style of choice is the Blossom Balcony line, but if full cup lace and silk sets aren’t your thing, Lounge are no one-trick pony. They’re striking a delicate balance of comfort and luxury with 6 underwear lines and a loungewear category:

After test-driving pretty much everything in the Balcony playlist, I did branch out to Mesh—the pink Mesh bralette and brief—and the classic Triangle bra and thong set in black/white. Both sets were winners in my eyes, but for the purposes of this interview, we’re sticking with my true love.

The Right Fit

Lounge Underwear Review

Lounge is one of those brands where you really need to know your size. They are very much a true to size underwear line, designed for your cup and band measurements—so make sure you know yours.

If you’ve got a Ride or Die bra (come on, I know you do!) take note of its size and what hook you wear it on and head on over to Lounge’s website for their Fitting Room quiz. They’ll help you get fitted from the comfort of your own sofa.

Lounge Underwear Balcony

Lounge Underwear Review

The Balcony collection is a whole mood. Lounge takes smoking hot lace and elegant silk and combine it for effortless sexy vibes and uber-feminine comfort.

  • Blossom Balcony gives us a full lace cup with a branded athleisure-style band, and either a brief or thong underwear.
  • Luxe Balcony offers a full lace cup with classic branded underwire styling.
  • The Silk Balcony collection has a demi-lace, demi-silk cup with silk slings and a classic underwire styling.

We’ve got a couple of options for underwear style and cut, too: lacy thong or brief with a low-profile waistband.

The cut of both the bra and panties is flattering to a woman’s shape—like, an actual woman—and the panelling is sexy without being skanky, and revealing without being awkward to wear.

Ok, got that? Let’s get to the down and dirty…

The Tech Specs (AKA Stuff You’ll Definitely Notice)

Lounge Underwear Review
  • Underwired
  • Embossed branded straps are fully adjustable
  • Soft cup
  • No padding
  • Branded band
  • Adjustable hook and eye closure
  • 90% Polyamide / 10% Spandex for stretch and softness
  • Cotton gusset in both underwear styles

Comfort and Fit

Lounge Underwear Review

I’m a curvy girl. If I measure my bra wrong—or I go with a brand that doesn’t stay TTS (true to size)—I end up overflowing with 4-boob. And I don’t care how cute underwear looks online—if it doesn’t look good on me, that bad boy is going back from when it came. Pronto.

Mercifully, Blossom Balcony—and every other collection I’ve tried from Lounge—is size-accurate and offers enough coverage not to cut into my breasts. The waistband is low-profile and flexible, so it doesn’t cinch me in like an uncomfortable woman-sausage.

What I’m saying is: 10 points for comfort and fit.

Durability

Lounge Underwear Review

There’s a pretty extensive care guide on the Lounge website for those who want to get the most out of their new and beautiful purchases.

I followed it faithfully. That one time. And now I wash them along with everything else that doesn’t pass the sniff test at my place. Surprisingly, given that it’s a lace / silk / mesh panelling set, Blossom Balcony is holding up well.

The bold jewel tones will fade pretty fast if you don’t follow the Laws of Underwear Care, but I haven’t noticed any pilling, pulling, or puckering around the seams or straps yet.

Pros and Cons

Pros

  • Inclusive – band size up to 16 and cup size G.
  • Absolutely gorgeous.
  • Wearable and comfortable all day.
  • 10 colorways in the Blossom Balcony line, 6 colorways in Luxe Balcony, 11 colorways in the classic Balcony collection, and 7 in Silk Balcony.

Cons

  • Lacks support for ladies who wear a larger cup size.
  • All bra options in this collection are underwired.

The Verdict

Lounge underwear’s Balcony collection offers everything I look for in underwear—style, sass, and comfort. Right now, comfort is more important than ever. But I’m telling you: when all this *gestures wildly outside* is over and venturing outside doesn’t come with major prep and a realllly good reason, I’ll be wearing underwear that looks as hot as it feels.
