For celebrities, fashion is a way of life. Since they’re always in the spotlight and they’re willing to do pretty much anything to attract more attention, they always want to look their best (or at least make shockwaves with their attire).
Whether they’re wearing stunning gowns from top-name designers or they’re sporting super-odd fashions that make your jaw drop (not necessarily in a good way) and leave you scratching your head, one things for sure: their figures do tend to look great underneath all that material, regardless of what they’re wearing. So what’s the secret? Sometimes it’s because they’re bodies really do look that great (remember, they have easy access to their own personal trainers and chefs), other times it’s because of good old plastic surgery, and still others, it’s because of the magical shapewear that they’re sporting underneath their attire. However, for some celebrities, the secret to looking flawless is super-simple: it’s their underwear, or rather, the thereof.
That’s right, there are tons of celebrities that proudly admit that they are members of the commando (as in going underwear-less) army. The reasons why celebrities ditched their undies vary and are the same as the reasons that “regular” people opt not to wear them. These reasons usually include things like increased comfort, no riding up and wedgies to deal with, and no unsightly panty lines to contend with, or simply to feel free. From walking the red carpets to accepting awards, here’s a look at some celebrities that have proudly admitted to not wearing underwear.
Christina Aguilera
Whether you’ve seen her perform live on-stage or on TV, it’s pretty likely that any time you’ve seen Christina Aguilera, she wasn’t wearing underwear underneath her clothing. The songbird has openly admitted that she isn’t a fan of undies and prefers to go commando. Aguilera made an appearance on the Chelsea Lately show in 2012, and the two discussed how Christina isn’t a fan of underwear. Chelsea was inspired by the singer’s freeness, and she decided to ditch her panties, too. When Handler came back out on stage, she said that she felt a lot freer – and the songstress told her she looked “hotter”.
Kelly Clarkson
The very first winner of the popular show American Idol, Kelly Clarkson had no clue that she was going to become such a huge success when she accepted the title back in 2002. Clarkson has been known to share some of her most intimate details with her fans, including the details about her, well, intimates (meaning undergarments).
In 2008, she stunned her fans when she said that she didn’t understand why anyone would want anything “up their butt when they can go free”. She’s also admitted that she went commando the entire time she performed on American Idol.
Octavia Spencer
According to the incredibly talented Octavia Spencer, comfort is key, and sometimes, that means not wearing underwear. When she was speaking to People Magazine at the Toronto International Film Festival in 2017, she said that undies weren’t “worth it” and that she didn’t “wear too much of it”. At the 2017 Golden Globes, she also went underwear-less, and has reported that she feels really free and just comfortable when she skips the panties.
Kate Beckinsale
According to actress Kate Beckinsale, underwear is something she’ll only wear on a few occasions. In fact, in an interview in Maxim magazine in 2011, she said that she only wears knickers when she’s wearing very short skirts or when she’s doing something active and needs some extra layers, such as going on a mountain expedition. Otherwise, she says that she goes completely underwear-free. When she made an appearance on The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson, Beckinsale admitted that she wasn’t wearing any underwear when her mic had fallen off and she had nothing to hook it onto.
Colton Underwood
Colton Underwood, better known as “The Bachelor”, is one of the most buzzed about reality TV stars. He rose to fame when he admitted that he was a virgin. He’s also famous for dressing sharply, and he once reported that he doesn’t wear underwear, nor does he wear socks. Is that why his bum always looks so smooth in his pants? Probably!
Jamie Foxx
Actor Jamie Foxx has admitted that he has gone commando when he was around his kids. When he appeared on an episode of The Ellen DeGeneres Show”, Foxx said that one of the many ways that he embarrasses his children is by not wearing underwear. He said that it isn’t a bad thing, and that he’s just a natural person, and as such, he prefers not to be constricted by undergarments.
Emma Thompson
Emma Thompson is another world-famous actress who has proudly admitted that she never wears underwear. When she was interviewed by Mark Heyes, she said that to her, underwear is “like a torture item”, and that she doesn’t like having anything under her clothing. “I don’t like underwear, full stop. I stopped wearing underwear a long time ago”. She said that undies aren’t her thing and that she just finds them to be really uncomfortable.
